Charging the Oppo Find X5 Pro to 50% takes the same time as boiling an egg, taking a shower or taking a coffee break: about 10 minutes. If the new flagship of the Chinese brand stands out for something, it is for an ultra-fast charge that fills the battery completely in just over half an hour. The fourth manufacturer that sells the most mobiles in the world It has also teamed up with Hasselblad, the company that photographed the arrival on the Moon, to improve its cameras and has created its own image processor.
EL PAÍS has tested the Oppo Find X5 Pro for a few days, which costs 1,299 euros. Its design is quite continuous. It stands out for an asymmetric camera module that integrates well in the rear thanks to some curvatures on its sides. It is a large and heavy phone (218 grams). It measures 16.3 centimeters high and 7.3 centimeters wide and has a thickness of 8.5 millimeters. Despite its large dimensions, it is quite comfortable in hand. Its back has an elegant mirror finish that, in addition to being slippery, gets quite dirty. Fingerprints are noticeably marked when using it.
The terminal has a 6.7-inch AMOLED panel that curves at the edges. Its refresh rate reaches 120 Hz. This parameter refers to the number of times the screen is updated per second. The higher it is, the smoother the transitions and animations. In the phone’s settings, the user can choose whether he prefers a high refresh rate — reaching 120 Hz — or normal — reaching 60 Hz. Although selecting this last option saves battery power, with 120 Hz the experience is smoother and more fluid.
The Chinese brand has jumped from the Oppo Find X3 to the Find X5 because in China the number four is considered unlucky, when ringing almost the same as the word death. In the photographic section, the Find X 3 Pro stood out above all for a powerful microscope. It was enough to bring the terminal closer to any object, tissue or part of the human body to glimpse some details that normally go unnoticed by the human eye. This lens, which achieved very striking results, is not present in the Find X5 Pro.
Oppo’s new mobile incorporates a 32-megapixel front camera and three rear cameras: a main and a 50-megapixel wide-angle and a 13-megapixel telephoto camera. The Chinese brand has collaborated with Hasselblad, the company that photographed the landing on the Moon, to create their cameras. In addition, the device is equipped with MariSilicon X, the first image processor developed by Oppo, designed to capture better photos, especially in low light.
With its cameras, the Oppo Find X5 Pro stands up to the most powerful terminals of giants such as Manzana or Samsung. In general, the results are good both day and night. Vivid and accurate colors, realism and a good level of detail are achieved. When using the telephoto lens, a higher level of detail is sometimes missing, especially in low light conditions. The main camera has five-axis optical stabilization. Oppo assures that this technology, typical of some professional photo cameras, serves to compensate for 65% of vibrations and has a precision 3.5 times higher than that of its predecessor. Stabilization when recording videos is as expected from a high-end mobile.
Performance and battery
The Oppo Find X5 Pro is compatible with 5G networks and incorporates the Qualcomm processor for the high-end Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. In addition, it has 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage. The performance of the terminal is very positive in practically all cases. When executing the applications we have not experienced any type of lag or delay.
The battery is 5,000 mAh, compared to 4,500 mAh of its predecessor. With normal use of the device, the full day is reached. Oppo has spent years trying to create the fastest charge on the market. At MWC 2022 announced the technology 240W SuperVOOC, which in theory would serve to charge a 4,500 mAh battery in just nine minutes. Although the figures of the Oppo Find X5 Pro are not so spectacular, they are also remarkable. With the 80W charger included in the box, you can reach 50% in just 12 minutes. While in 20 minutes, 70% is reached, fully charging the mobile takes just over half an hour.
